Another charity trip of head of the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery of BelMAPE Dmitry Grichanyuk as part of the "Operation Smile" campaign

This autumn in Vladikavkaz a medical action of the Charitable Foundation "Operation Smile" was held. Doctors-volunteers of the foundation visited North Ossetia for the third time. Head of the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Grichanyuk D.A., Candidate of Medical Sciences, Associate Professor, has been a member of the American and European Associations of Cranio-Maxillofacial Surgeons, for many years in the team of the Operation Smile Charitable Foundation. This year he also came to Vladikavkaz to perform operations on children.

The operations were carried out at the Republican Children's Clinical Hospital of the Ministry of the Republic of Bashkortostan of the Russian Federation.

In four days, specialists performed 60 operations on children with pathology of the upper lip and palate from North Ossetia and neighboring republics.

Charitable organization "Operation Smile" was registered in Russia in 1995. For many years, the Operation Smile Charitable Foundation has been providing free surgeries to children with birth defects. The host for the North Caucasus was an outstanding Russian volunteer surgeon Khasan Baiev.

As part of this action, there were also non-standard severe cases that Dmitry Grichanyuk took upon himself, thereby giving happy smiles to children. From 8:00 the surgeons began to work, and the process lasted until late in the evening. The minimum number of operations performed per day ranged from 12 to 18. The time of surgical intervention was from 1 hour 30 minutes to 3 hours 30 minutes. All operations that were carried out as part of the campaign required an individual approach.

For merits in the field of healthcare and high professionalism, a great personal contribution to the improvement of children in RNO-A, Grichanyuk D. A. was awarded gratitude from the Council of the Spiritual Board of Muslims of RNO-Alania.

It is important to note that since 2013, Dmitry Grichanyuk has been the only Belarusian volunteer surgeon of the charitable organization Operation Smile accredited in the United States as an international volunteer surgeon, thereby gaining admission to perform operations on children with congenital facial defects around the world. As part of the action of this organization, he held in 2016-2017. master classes in the surgical treatment of children with malformations of the dentoalveolar system in Ulan-Uda, Krasnoyarsk, Belgorod, Ufa, Rostov-on-Don, Moscow, Irkutsk, Novosibirsk, Makhachkala, Grozny, Vladikavkaz (Russian Federation).
