On the 22nd of October, 2020, in Saint-Petersburg there had been organized and held the online meeting of the Expert Council on Healthcare at the Interparliamentary Assembly of the CIS countries, dedicated to the issues of ensuring the biosafety of the CIS member states in the context of the Covid-19 pandemic and influenza.

Members of the Expert Council on Healthcare at the Interparliamentary Assembly of the CIS countries from the Belarusian side, who participated at the meeting, were represented by deputy head of the Main Office of the Organization of Medical Care, head of the Office of Specialized  Medical Care – Tatiana Migal, and rector of BelMAPE – Aleksey Chukanov.

Other participants in the videoconference were representatives of the academic society, parliaments, ministries and other organizations of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the Republic of Belarus, the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Republic of Moldova, Russian Federation, the Republic of Tajikistan and the Republic of Uzbekistan.

In his speech, D.Kobitsky, a general secretary of CIS Interparliamentary Assembly pointed that the experience exchange and application of the best methods of modern medicine serve as a background for the improvement of healthcare systems in all CIS countries, and the accumulated practical experience in CIS countries can and must be fully used in our countries.

At the meeting, Y.A.Scherbuk, an academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences, a chairman of the Expert Council on Healthcare at the CIS Interparliamentary Assembly, gave the report «Pubic health and COVID-19 pandemic: problems and perspectives». In his report, he analyzed the main epidemic and social-economic processes in the countries during the period of the spread of a new coronavirus infection.
The experts exchanged opinions on the issues of ensuring biosafety of the CIS countries in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic and influenza.  A specialist of the European Regional Bureau of WHO, Ogtay Gezalov, presented a clinical manual on COVID-19 and the main methods of its implementation.

Also, D.A.Lioznova, an acting director of the Federal State Budgetary Institution «A.A. Smorodintsev Scientific and Research Institute of Influenza» of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation, presented the report «Influenza as the problem for biosafety».

O.V.Gridnev, deputy Minister of Healthcare of the Russian Federation, shared the information about the counteraction of the spread of COVID-19 and influenza in the country.

Besides, the participants of the conference got acquainted with the information about the activities of the organizations Red Cross and Red Crescent on counteraction of the spread of COVID-19 in the European region, about the peculiarities of healthcare management during and after coronavirus COVID-19 pandemic and a number of other healthcare problems.
