On the 9th of June 2022, there had been held Republican Scientific and Practical Conference “Cardiovascular diseases in pregnant women” at BelMAPE. The conference was attended by 220 specialists.

The conference was opened by Leonid Neden, Chief Specialist of the Department of Medical Assistance to Mothers and Children of the Main Directorate of Organization of Medical Assistance of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Belarus, Associate Professor of the Department of Reproductive Health and Medical Genetics of BelMAPE, Candidate of Medical Sciences, associate professor.

Yuri Gain, Vice-Rector for Research, Doctor of Medical Sciences, professor, Honored Scientist of the Republic of Belarus, addressed the conference participants with a welcome speech. The conference was attended by leading specialists of the Republic of Belarus involved in the observation of pregnant women and women in childbirth with cardiovascular pathology: cardiologists, obstetrician-gynecologists, cardiac surgeons, anesthesiologists-resuscitators, neonatologists, geneticists and clinical pharmacologists.

The main issues of the conference were the issues of regulatory and legal documentation in the Republic of Belarus on the observation and management of pregnant women with cardiovascular diseases, organizational issues of providing specialized care to pregnant women in Minsk, tactics of management and interaction between obstetrician-gynecologists, therapists, cardiologists and doctors of other specialties.

The current methods of the management of pregnant women with the most significant cardiovascular diseases, such as arterial hypertension in pregnancy, rhythm and conduction disorders, specific cardiomyopathies, and venous thromboembolic complications, had been presented. There had been raised the issues of the use of drugs in pregnant women, taking into account their safety, and the use of anticoagulants was considered separately. The conference participants were familiarized with the possibilities of providing cardiac surgery to pregnant women with heart defects.

The participants discussed the issues of prenatal preparation of women with cardiac pathology, as well as anesthetic approaches to ensure operative delivery, the assessment of genetic and neonatal risk during pregnancy.

The discussion of these issues was aimed at the creation of understanding among physicians of various specialties involved in the care of women at high cardiovascular risk during pregnancy and childbirth, with the aim of improving pregnancy outcomes and reducing the risks of maternal and perinatal morbidity and mortality.
