Aleksandr Gonchar was born in the city of Kalinigrad (Baltic states).
- From 1984 to 1990 – Minsk State Medical Institute, Faculty of General Medicine, specialty – General Medicine;
- From 1990 to 1991 – internship in neurology at Scientific and Research Institute for Neurology, Neurosurgery and Physiotherapy (Minsk City Clinical Hospital № 5);
- From 1991 to 1993 – neuropathologist, working at Minsk City Clinical Hospital № 5;
- From 1993 to 1998 – roentgen-endovascular surgeon of the room for angiography of Minsk City Clinical Hospital № 5, from 1998 to 2012 – part-time surgeon;
- From 1998 to 2001 – PhD student of the Department of Radiology of BelMAPE;
- From 2001 to 2004 – assistant of the Department of Radiology of BelMAPE;
- From 2005 to 2009 – associate professor of the Department of Radiology of BelMAPE;
- From 2009 to 2010 – doctoral candidate of the Department of Radiology of BelMAPE;
- Since 2010 until the present – professor of the Department of Radiology of BelMAPE;
- In 2015 he was appointed to the position of head of the Scientific and Research Laboratory of BelMAPE.
His main scientific interests: radiology and roentgen-endovascular treatment of cerebrovascular and heart diseases.
In 1995, Aleksandr Gonchar was the first one in the Republic of Belarus, who had mastered, improved and implemented into clinical practice the methods of digital subtraction angiography in patients with neurosurgery and neurological problems. Together with physicians from the Republican Scientific and Practical Center for Neurology and Neurosurgery, he participated in X-ray surgeries and scientific projects, he has a lot of joint publications and patents.
Aleksandr Gonchar is an author and coauthor of 5 monographs, 157 scientific works (among them 15 ones were published abroad), 9 patents, 9 rational proposals. The results of his scientific researches were presented at 19 scientific forums, including 5 European congresses.
Aleksandr Gonchar is a member of the European Society of Radiologists and ESR Education Committee.
Aleksandr Gonchar has the highest qualification category in X-ray surgery and X-ray therapy and radiology.
