Professor, Doctor of Medical Sciences

Arkady Gres was born in the Zhabintsy village of Brest region.

In 1958, he finished secondary school in the town of Baranavichy. In 1964, he graduated from Grodno Medical Institute, Faculty of General Medicine. After the graduation, Arkady Gres served in the Soviet Army; afterwards, he started his career as an urologist at Grodno Regional Hospital. In 1969, on finishing his clinical residency in urology at Minsk Medical Institute, he started to work as an assistant lecturer of the urology course at Grodno Medical Institute. In 1970, he defended his Candidate’s thesis entitled «Autocystoduplication as a treatment of myoneurogenic urinary tract disorders ». In 1971, Arkady Gres started to work as an assistant at the Department of Urology of Belarusian State Institute for Advanced Medical Training, in 1975, he was awarded the academic title of an associate professor. In 1983, in Kiev, he defended his Doctoral thesis entitled «Surgical treatment of neurogenic bladder and rectum dysfunction». In 1985, Arkady Gres was awarded the academic title of a professor. In 1991, he moved up his career ladder, started to work as head of the Department of Urology of Belarusian State Institute for Advanced Medical Training, where he has been working as a professor until the present.

Since 1990, Arkady Gres had been working as a chief visiting urologist of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Belarus. In 1991, he founded Republican Andrology Center and Andrology Unit at Minsk Regional Hospital. He contributed greatly to the appearance of consultations with anthologists in all regions. From 1989 to 1992, Arkady Gres worked as dean of Surgery Faculty of Belarusian State Institute for Advanced Medical Training.

Under his supervision, 3 Doctoral and 9 Candidate’s theses have been defended. In 1991, he did a scientific internship in Berlin. Arkady Gres is an author and coauthor of 182 scientific works (9 of them were published abroad), 9 inventions, 4 study guides, 4 methodological recommendations, and 2 instructions, approved by the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Belarus, encyclopaedic dictionary «Sexology» (1993), monographs «Expert systems of chronic immunologic prognosis of acute pyelonephritis ».

His main scientific interests: neurogenic urination disorders, inflammatory diseases of prostatic gland, inflammatory liver diseases, urethral strictures, treatment, prevention and metaprevention of kidney stone disease. He is a deputy chair of the Belarusian Association of Urologists, a member of the European and World Association of Urologists, International Academy of Gerontologists, professional Association of Andrologists of Russia. He is a member of the Dissertation Advisory Committee on Surgery, Urology and Anesthesiology.

Arkady Gres was awarded Diplomas of Honor from the Ministry of Healthcare, Great Gold Medal named after N. I. Pirogov and the Medal «20-year anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War».
