In 1991, Olga Zherko graduated from Minsk State Medical Institute, Pediatric Faculty. From 1991 to 1994, she worked as a junior research assistant at the laboratory of adaptation and evaluation of hemostasis of Scientific and Research Institute for Radiation Medicine. From 1994 to 1999, she worked as an ultrasound specialist at the Ultrasound Division of Scientific and Research Institute for Radiation Medicine. From 1999 to 2006, Olga Zherko worked as an assistant at the Department of Radiation Medicine and Ecology of Belarusian State Medical University. Since 2006, she has been working as an associate professor at the Department of Ultrasound Diagnostics of Belarusian Medical Academy of Postgraduate Education. Since February 2017, she has been working as head of the Department of Ultrasound Diagnostics.

In 2003, Olga Zherko defended her Candidate’s thesis entitled «Peculiarities of autonomic regulation of central hemodynamics in children, who live in unfavorable environmental conditions, and drug-free correction methods to cope with detected disorders». In 2008, Olga Zherko got the academic title of an associate professor on the specialty «Clinical medicine».

Her scientific and pedagogical activities are mainly devoted to the development and implementation of new methodological approaches to ultrasound diagnostics of cardiovascular diseases.

Olga Zherko is an author of more than 60 scientific works, among them there are 2 practical guides for physicians: «Ultrasound of vessel diseases» (2013), «Clinical transthoracic echocardiography » (2016).

She did internships on ultrasound diagnostics abroad (Germany, Austria, Russia).
