Viktor Evstigneev

Viktor Evstigneev was born in 1941. He graduated from Minsk Medical Institute in 1966. From 1966 to 1969, he worked as a neuropathologist at Minsk City Clinical Hospital № 2. From 1969 to 1976, Viktor Evstigneev worked as an assistant at the Department of Nervous Diseases of Minsk State Medical Institute. From 1976 to 1983, he worked as a senior research worker at the laboratory of cybernetic methods of diagnostics and biofeedback, head of Neurosurgery Division of the Republican Clinical Psychiatric Hospital «Novinki». From 1983 to 1994, Viktor Evstigneev worked as an assistant at the Department of Neuropathology of Belarusian State Institute for Advanced Medical Training, and then – as an associate professor at the same department. From 1994 to 1999, he worked as a professor at the Department of Nervous and Neurosurgical Diseases. Since 1999, Viktor Evstigneev has been working as a professor at the Department of Neurology and Neurosurgery of BelMAPE. In 1970, he defended his Candidate’s thesis, in 1991 – Doctoral thesis. In 1992, he got the academic title of an associate professor, in 1996 – professor.

For 6 years, Viktor Evstigneev had been a chief neurologist of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Belarus, a member of the Expert Board of the Committee on Science and Technology of the Republic of Belarus, a chairman of the Expert Council of the Higher Attestation Commission, a member of the Academic Council for Defence of Theses.

In 2001, he got the honorary title “Honored Worker of Science and Technology of the Republic of Belarus”.

At present, professor Viktor Evstigneev is actively involved into the training of physicians, scientific and pedagogical staff. He is an excellent lecturer.

He has quite a various range of scientific interests: he developed the method of the brainstem redislocation; he was the first one in Belarus who performed stereotactic operations with implantation of the long-term intracerebral electrodes at temporal lobe epilepsy; he participated in a big number of investigations on the problems of cerebral edema of cerebrovascular pathology and epileptology.

Viktor Evstigneev created a new treatment technology of the consequences of cerebrovascular disorders.

In 2013, he was a laureate of the prize of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus for the cycle of works entitled «Clinical and experimental research and application of impulse magnetotherapy in epileptology and other fields of medicine».

He is an author of the work entitled «Mechanism of cerebral vibrations» (1988) and of more than 400 scientific publications, including 12 inventions, 8 monographs and educational guides, 16 methodological recommendations and instructions.

Viktor Evstigneev participated in all Union and Republican meetings, in many international congresses (Prague, Marcel, Rome, Jerusalem, Paris, Vienna, Madrid, Athens, Geneva, Stockholm).

He is a member of the public organization «Antiepileptic League» of the Republic of Belarus and a member of the European Association of Neurologists.
